The above photograph shows two males courting a larger female. When first approached for this photo, there were seven males courting the female.
Often, larger numbers of males are found courting a single female, giving rise to the stories of "nests of water
moccasins". These snakes are neither venomous, nor aggressive, and will generally flee at the slightest disturbance.
